Farming
A loan helped a member to purchase more seeds and fertilizer.
Pelita 2 Group's story
Dorkas and Sarci are the additional members in the Pelita 2 group working as farmers. They live next door. Dorkas, sitting on the left side and wearing a pink blouse, is a 47-year-old woman and the mother of three children from her marriage to Daniel, a 64-year-old man. The children are in university, senior high school and elementary school.
To make a living, Dorkas grows water spinach, chicory, green beans and chili on the farm. She has been engaged in this for years. Due to the rainy season she needs more seeds and fertilizer and therefore she needs money to do so. Dorkas and Sarci were interested when a neighbor who has received a loan from TLM suggested that they join the Pelita 2 group as additional members.
Along with Sarci, Dorkas requested a loan totaling IDR 3,500,000. She feels grateful that Kiva still cares for small entrepreneurs like them.
